The Aptera is one great idea, but you shouldn't forget that in 1933 Buckminster Fuller came out with the Dymaxion.
Speaking of car culture and bug-free aerodynamics, this labor of love is pretty impressive. He notes (and I wonder if the claim is based on real-life experience), the same aerodynamics that keeps the windshield free of bugs and dirt would lever a deer to the side of the road...

i was recently in India and the prevelence of three wheeled vehicles both small and large should help the government to place the three wheeled vehicle in the auto catagory not the motorcycle catagory. I LOVED this car!!! But I love my bike more.
