An older gentleman sitting next to me on an airplane advised me "Never lose your cool...even if something pretty drastic is happening..eg. if you are going to lose your plane or whatever. If you lose your cool, any chance of recovering from the situation is also lost..on the other hand, if you keep your cool, you may be able to lessen the damage..

Something I have never forgotten
