It's been more than a decade since Ellen DeGeneres came out on her sitcom and "Will and Grace" premiered. So how is television doing with the portrayal of non-straight people in 2009? Comedian Judy Gold tries to answer that question and tells Kurt, "I want a show about a gay family where you forget they're gay."

I am always surprised that Allan Ball's "Six Feet under" is rarely mentioned as an honest portrayal of gay characters. The show portrayed very real people that I have met, known, or been, gay or straight. It wasn't a sitcom, but it went far beyond "Will and Grace" to show interactions between people that a greater public may relate to who does not live in New York. Granted that it played on cable, but so did "The "L" Word".

and personally, i am so fun gay you could use me as penicillin. angry fun. and thanks for using what's up as an outro. now i am angry fun happy gay.
