After years of frustration with record companies, singer-songwriter Jill Sobule had a wake up call. She asked her fans to donate money to pay for the production of her new album, and they responded with $75,000. Jill tells Kurt about her new fan-financed album California Years and she performs live in the studio.

I've been following Jill's music for years. She is one of the unsung heroes of the pop world: bright, witty, and not afraid to speak her mind. How's she's stayed under the fame and fortune radar all these years is a mystery. Congrats on this latest album!!
She's great, and I'm an "old lady" of 63!
Jane Siberry / ISSA has been doing this for a number of years!
