In the late 1930s, Edgar Kaufmann asked starchitect Frank Lloyd Wright to design a home near a waterfall in Pennsylvania — and an architectural icon was born. This summer, the Guggenheim Museum in New York is presenting a retrospective of Wright's work. As part of our American Icons series, Studio 360's Peter Crimmins finds out why Fallingwater was named the best building of the 20th century.

My husband and I visited Fallingwater in PA. many years ago. Was so impressed by this structure and location overlooking the water. We now have a grandson in graduate studies in Architecture at Temple University (Philadelphia) and will most certainly encourage him to visit Frank Lloyd Wright's structure to witness it's modern design for that period in the 1930's.
We drove across Penna. and spent the night to witness the incredible effort of Wright and company and was not disappointed by this imaginative icon. Cantilever is the way to go, just don't over do it. Wow.
