I have a list of movies I'd like to see w/my daughter (currently 5) as she grows up. I've never thought of letting her drop out for a year, but after having heard this piece, I could see doing that too. Films are an amazing equalizer between generations - more than other media I think. Something about the length of films and the visual nature of cinematography lends itself to so much discussion. Added to that is that most movies now contains directors notes which allow you to experience movies on a different plane. So, yes, I think this is an idea worth more discussion.

If Jesse Gilmour is so lame he doesn't get the Beatles or John Lennon's brilliant performance in Hard Day's Night, maybe he should have just stayed in high school with the other accountants-to-be. Wotta loser.
