Del the Funky Homosapien (Heather Leah Kennedy)

Del the Funky Homosapien

This West Coast hip-hopper hit stardom when he rapped on “Clint Eastwood” –- a mega pop hit from 2001 by the Gorillaz. But he's also carved out a niche as hip-hop’s oddball, rapping about science fiction and comics. Kurt talks to Del about his new record Eleventh Hour and how his path diverged from that of his cousin, gangsta pioneer Ice Cube.

There once was a man doing hip-hop

I said stop it's a flop

I really prefer bop

As Dizzy would say; "Mop-Mop"

Man, Del is truly a Hip hop master of creative writing. I listened to most of his albums. Some were good and others were better. Anyways, nice interview, and somebody has got to tell dell to get some more media attention becuase hes the only rapper i know of that raps about sci-fi and mixes it in a comical way.

They've misspelled the spelling for Del's full title as Del the Funky Homosapien when his material is released under the moniker Del tha Funkee Homosapien. Out of respect for the artist, it would be nice to see this changed.

Hi JJ --

We had actually originally posted that spelling of Del's name ("tha Funkee" way) -- but then we saw that the way it's been spelled recently (including on his new album) is "the Funky" way. So we went with that. Certainly no disrepect meant! In fact, just the opposite!
