The current violence in Somalia is painfully familiar to K’naan, who grew up in Mogadishu in the 1980’s. He loved American hip-hop before he understood English. K’naan’s new record is called Troubador. Produced by Matthew Cavnar.

Has some work of art changed my life? Yes, as a girl, listening to Bartok's folk song cycle, dancing around the living room, my mind and body were liberated. I fully understood the power of movement...I still love to dance...one of life's greatest joys.
