Jenova Chen (thatgamecompany)

Videogames' New Wave

Jenova Chen is breaking open the head of videogame design. Instead of stealing cars and waging war, he wants players to commune with nature. Kurt talks with Chen about his new game "Flower" -- the #1 downloaded game in February for Playstation 3.

This is boring and uninteresting to me on a Saturday afternoon. What makes anyone think we want to hear about video game makers, getting way too specific about what they do? If I was at all interested in that, I would be playing video games.

Fascinating! Like old-fashioned classic toys, games that are open-ended allow for more creative input on the part of the child...a delightful development.

So, nobody commented that Mr. Chen's first name is that of a character from a video game: Final Fantasy VII.

@carrie: oh, yes. Whyever would you want to hear about something you new and different. You could make the same assertion for anything. Let's play the word replacement game with your quote:

"What makes anyone think we want to hear about MUSICIANS/AUTHORS/ARTISTS/FILM DIRECTORS, getting way too specific about what they do? If I was at all interested in that, I would LISTENING TO MUSIC/READING BOOKS/VISITING GALLERIES/WATCHING FILMS"
