Theresa Andersson

Interview + Performance

Friday, April 10, 2009

She built her sound in New Orleans and recorded her record, Hummingbird, Go! in her kitchen there, but she was born and raised in rural Sweden. Andersson is DIY to the extreme, looping guitar, drums, fiddle, vocals, and vinyl record samples. She tells Kurt how she does it and performs live in the studio.

Theresa Andersson performs "Na Na Na"

Theresa Andersson, is just one of many that made the big list the first worldwide list of new music from youtube and myspace. For the first time, because of the internet, someone can make a best of the world list including music from just about every continent. I encourage 360 to spotlight the first world new music list and help support all the incredible talent from across the world whether it's Theresa, the Youtube Orchestra/London Symphony Orchestra, or Johnny Crawford.

Her last riff sounds stolen from Laura Nyro.
Just 35 years later. And I love it

thank you sooo much for turning us on to Andersson (though it seems she's been out there for a while). she's so alive with creativity, obviously having a ball and spreading joy. I've watched all you tube videos of her since hearing your show. Van Morrison says there's no one out there he's listening to because there's no one doing anything. he needs a shot of Theresa! what would we do without NPR ? thank you, Theresa. thank you, NPR.
