A Catcher in the Rye might be a book to re-read. I hated it when I had to read it in high school. Years later, when I taught it in high school as part of a curriculum that I inherited from someone else, I came to like it, possibly for the same reasons that I hated it earlier. I'm not sure that my sense of the book coincided at all with what Salinger had in mind, but it worked for me in an odd way.
