Bruce Norris Clybourne Park Act 1
Nathan Johnson

Bruce Norris's play Clybourne Park explores issues of race, class, and gentrification. In the first act, which takes place in 1959, a white family learns the new owners of their house are black — much to the dismay of their neighbors.

In the play’s second act, which takes place in 2009, the house and the neighborhood have fallen on hard times.  New, white owners plan to raze the building, while members of the black property owners association protest.  The same actors portray characters from both eras.
