 Together
In Chen Kaige's new feature film,
a father brings his son from a provincial town to Beijing, determined
to find a music teacher who can grow the boy into a world-class violinist.
Kaige is best known for directing Farewell My Concubine, a sweeping historical
epic. In contrast, Together is set in the present and brings the subtle
complexity of contemporary Beijing to the screen. Produced by Michele
Siegel.

 My
Mentor
Alec Wilkinson was just a young guy
when he decided that he could become a writer and maybe get rich. He found
the perfect teacher. After a career editing John Updike and Vladimir Nabokov,
William Maxwell took this clueless kid under his wing. Wilkinson is now
a writer for the New Yorker himself, and he recently published a book
about his 25-year relationship with Maxwell. Produced by David Krasnow.

 Bob
Ross
Painter Bob Ross died eight years ago. But many people
don't realize this, because his 403 episodes of "The Joy of Painting"
continue to air worldwide. Jad Abumrad discovered that Ross's legacy of
art-teaching has extended way beyond those television shows and into places
like the back of a pet store.
