Arthur CarterSamuel Mockbee
Samuel Mockbee is Alumni Professor of Architecture at Auburn University in Alabama. He is a co- founder of Rural Studio, a program that combines the teaching of architecture with a commitment to public service. Mockbee and his students use discarded objects--scrap wood, metal, hay bales, license plates-- and work with local residents to create buildings in one of the nation's most impoverished areas, Hale County Alabama. He received a MacArthur Foundation grant in 2000.
