COVER STORY
Parents
Kurt Andersen and singer Rosanne Cash talk about being an artist in the shadow of a famous and talented parent.

Frieda Hughes
Frieda Hughes was only two years old when her mother, Sylvia Plath, committed suicide. She was raised by an equally famous poet -- her father, Ted Hughes. Frieda herself became a poet, and she has had to jostle with her parents' reputations and 40 years of gossip about their notoriously volatile relationship. Sarah Lilley has the story.

The Marley Brothers
Bob Marley was the undisputed king of reggae music. When he died of cancer in 1981 he was just 36 years old. Marley left behind many songs, a legion of adoring fans, and quite a few talented children to carry on his legacy. This summer, for the first time ever, five of Marley’s sons – Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, KyMani and Damian -- are paying tribute to their father with the Bob Marley Roots, Rock Reggae Festival. Trey Kay met up with the brothers at a show in Virginia.

Jan Kerouac
Writer Jack Kerouac was best known for his 1957 book On the Road, and the free spirited Beat was nobody’s family man. Jan Kerouac only met her father twice, and as an adult she struggled to understand him. In 1989 Jan heard an archival recording of Jack Kerouac giving a talk, and radio producer Marjorie Van Halteren asked her to write a poem in response to it. They recorded it one cold winter night in New York.
